Second trimester report cards were sent home in Friday folders. Please take the time to look over this with your child. Once you’ve done so, please sign and return the envelope only - the actual report card is yours to keep.

Good luck to all of our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders as they continue their TCAP tests this week!!

Reminders:
We are still collecting toiletry items for our troops. Any donations you can send would be greatly appreciated!

Keep using MyOn for nightly reading! This can be recorded on the home reading log.

What are we learning this week?

Reading: We have started Theme 9, Cast Your Vote, and our reading strategy is Making Connections. Our vocabulary words are vote, result, wait, government, duty, and election .

Writing: We are now shifting our non-fiction writing focus to “All Abouts”. This will give us an opportunity to do writing on various topics we already know a great deal about.

Math: As we continue our graphing unit, we are using picture graphs, tally charts, tables, bar graphs and circle graphs to compare data.

Science: We are continuing our study of weather and the tools meteorologists use to analyze and predict the weather.

Social Studies: We are using last week’s interview homework as a foundation of our history focus, comparing life in the past and present.

Word Study/Spelling: Our spelling test next week will cover comparative adjectives (tallER, tallEST,). We will take our spelling pretest on Wednesday to determine our new word lists. The new focus will be on prefixes (PREtest, REdo).
