We will participate in our 3rd annual Frederick Elementary Fun Run on Thursday. This will be a full day dedicated to thinking about and experiencing healthy choices.

What will we be learning this week?

Sunscreen and an extra set of clothes are also advised. Also, remember that families are invited to join your 2nd grader on Thursday from 3:20 - 4:20 to see and join in on all the new experiences your child will experience. Thanks to everyone who got registered - we’re looking forward to a great day!!
We’re still collecting photos for our Closing Ceremonies on May 16th. If you have any pictures from activities at FES in past years, please send those in so we can include them on a slide show.

We are thrilled to have AVID for Adventure return to our school this spring. AVID is an outdoor education program that our students will get to experience for one day on April 25th. The program involves a huge rock climbing wall, kayaking, bike riding and an educational portion without even leaving school! Our amazing PTA is paying half of each student’s registration fee, but all parents do need to go on-line at www.fes-pta.org and click on the link to register their students and pay the remaining $10.00. Currently, our class only has 7 students registered...

We know so many of you have family members that have attended Frederick Elementary in the past. We are working on collecting pictures for a slideshow that we’ll be sharing with everyone at the Closing Ceremonies on Thursday, May 16th. If you have any pictures from your years at Frederick Elementary that you would be willing to share, we would be excited to include them! We can make a copy or you can send them electronically - whichever works best for you. Thanks in advance!!

Also, a reminder if anyone has canned pumpkin or latex gloves that you could donate to help the Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, it would be greatly appreciated. This organization operates solely on donations and we would love to help out their furry friends. Donations will be collected through TUESDAY!

Congratulations to Yarely for reaching 100 nights of reading!  She enjoyed lunch in the classroom this week.

After break we will begin Volume 2 of our math program and the kids will be receiving new math books. Since we are done with Volume 1 books, kids will be bringing these books home. They are theirs to KEEP! We encourage them to work on any of the remaining pages, but these do NOT need to be turned in. ;-)

We finished our week by watching Wreck-it Ralph as our reward for earning 2,500 Frederick Five hands!!!! Our next goal will be 3,000 hands in order to earn an end of year celebration.

All students are expected to continue reading and practicing math facts through Spring Break. Any students that fill their Spring Break reading and math log will get to eat lunch in the classroom when we return from break.
